The test field in Sukkevann Kristiansand is installed with a ShockPAD XC 5012 (12mm) padding which is the undermost part of the system with damping protection.
The grass used is Slide Max Elite artificial grass. The thick fibers in the artificial grass are designed to give the grass. The grass can sustain a lot of use over a long period of time without reducing the technical football properties of the turf. The fiber of this grass is also 100% recyclable into RTA (Recycled Turf Agglomerat) meaning the grass can be recycled into sport technical layers such as padding for fields.
The fill consists of 12mm sand whose purpose is to support the grass fibers and make the artificial grass stronger and helps the individual strains of grass stay upright. There is then added 12 – 15 mm GOE BIO granules. It is installed the way the picture below shows.
The glass is filled with water.
If there was to occur issues with abrasions while playing on the test field one possible solution to solve this would be to file the corners of the particle so that the edges of the cubes were rounder then they are now. There have already been successful tests of this altercation at the labs of SportsLab and a production process has been made. The granules would in this case look like this;
